Launched management consulting firm specialized in new business development and marketing within the mobile, media, and high-tech industry. Holds P&L responsibility for a €450K business, while formulating strategies and creating new markets for innovative products.
Advises companies helping establish differentiated strategies and create competitive advantage for mobile content, mobile advertising, smartphones and mobile apps, social nets, and customized products. Designed go-to-market plan for mobile personalization 3M vinyl covers, helping client tap into a €20M niche market through the telco channel.
Consults on M&A, investment strategies and new partnerships, having generated €15M marketing re-branding services contract for partner brand marketing agency, while acting as engagement manager between agency and a partner company in Europe.
2005 - 2009Instrumental in driving global expansion of company’s strategic services across 14 countries for €36B premier mobile communications carrier and pioneer in mobile internet and mobile payments; company has global operations and 50M subscribers, and specializes in personal communication services (i-mode, i-channel, i-concierge, etc.).
Launched flagship mobile internet products and services, including i-mode, i-channel, and over 50 personalized mobile devices in Europe and Asia. Led joint procurement initiatives and launch of key mobile devices – e.g., Nokia 6680im, Motorola L6im (top 3 sales) and Toshiba TG02 (pan-European launch) – accumulating 8M handsets sold in Europe.
Additionally, appointed by company’s Board of Directors to manage Telefónica, the company’s largest and most strategic global account. Acted as the “arm” of NTT DOCOMO to influence this huge group to keep pace with technologies adopted in Japan, and implement innovations to bring more revenues to Telefónica as partner and consequently to NTT DOCOMO.
2004 - 2005Forged long term partnership between NTT DOCOMO and O2 plc. for the launch of i-mode and related services. Negotiated strategic agreement for the UK, Germany and Ireland. Project-managed three operating businesses with 300+ people across NTT DOCOMO and O2, in 3 different countries (including management of brand strategy, marcoms, content partnerships, platform selection, and device range).
Jointly managed £20M marcoms campaign for the launch of i–mode that attracted half million subscribers to the service in the first 180 days post launch; campaign drove global consolidation of i-mode presence and was O2’s second largest communication effort since its de-merger from British Telecom. Prior to that, offered executive advice to NTT DOCOMO on strategies to be followed to enter high growth and emerging markets (e.g. India, LATAM).
2001 - 2004Provided high-end management consulting to clients, including Vivo Participações S.A. (of Telefónica and Portugal Telecom SGPS SA) in Brazil. Contributed to establishing Vivo as strategic property of Telefónica by consulting on company Network Migration Strategy towards UMTS (3G).
Vivo executed decision to launch GSM-GPRS-UMTS systems followed by HSDPA - generating global economies of scale for GSM related technology. Negotiated and managed €3M consulting agreement with Vivo; successfully renegotiated contract for 3 consecutive years.
2000 - 2001Built customer relationships with Deutsche Telekom AG, Vodafone Group Plc., NTT DOCOMO, Embratel Participações S.A., and other telecom giants for €25B global company providing infrastructure to 40%+ of all mobile traffic throughout the world. Advised and consulted on greenfield strategies and best practices for giant telcos to enter the Brazilian mobile market.
Took part in the team that closed the first GSM infrastructure contract for Ericsson in Brazil (valued at €1B in its first phase and covering the entire country) with TIM. Interfaced with company’s C-level executive decision makers.
1992 - 2000Managed strategic accounts in the pulp/paper industry (representing €12M in annual revenues for the company) across territory of Brazil and Latin America for €15B company selling forest protection products and providing consultancy on production systems.
Additionally, managed €10M project to gather data and information on performance of genetically enhanced crops across Central Great Plains overseeing team of Senior Researchers (company funded Master’s research at Colorado State, USA).
